How to Create a DIY Travel Scrapbook/Diary

Hey, so if you didn't know, I'll be going to Dominican Republic this January and I am going to be making a travel scrapbook to document my trip. I'd thought I'd blog it cause there's a lot of ideas out there about what to include in a travel or vacation scrapbook and how you could design it. So, I've decided to put all those ideas plus mine, together into a neat little list. I've decided to do mine like a time-line book with a table of contents and extra pages for special events and memories. Below is a picture of the scrapbook stuff I've purchased for this project. All from Dollarama for $1.00 instead of buying them from Michaels for $3.00 +. If your stuck on ideas, you can always search Pinterest for "DIY SMASH Book Travel" or the like.

What to Include:
COVER:
So for the cover you can leave it blank like the smashbook already is, or you can paste your fav pic from your vacation, or maybe a map of where you went. Another cool idea is to buy a postcard when you're at your destination and glue it to the front. You can add decals like in the picture to the left for more customization.

INSIDE COVER/FIRST PAGE:
A lot of people tend to use the inside cover or first page for the main facts about their trip. For example;
Where it was, when it took place, for how long, who you went with, where you stayed, etc. I've decided to use my first page because my inside cover has pockets so I'm probably putting mementos in there.

Sugar Skull Girl Make-Up Art

I have always had a creative flair for make-up and art and decided to combine the two. Today I created a sugar skull look on one half of my face just cause I was bored. Took only 20 minutes to do and about 20 minutes for the pictures. This is how I did it.

Items Needed:
* Regular Foundation
* Black Liquid Eyeliner
* Light Pink Lipstick
* Silver or Black Glitter Liner
* Silver Gem Stickers
* Bronzer

Directions:
1. Apply your foundation as you would every day.
2. Apply more than the usual amount of bronzer or dark blush to the cheekbones working in a sweeping motion following your natural cheekbone line to the hairline.
3. Apply light pink lipstick.
4. Apply black eyeliner on the top and bottom lids on each eye as well as black mascara. Put a few coats of mascara on so the lashes look extra big.

DIY Sugar Skull Wall Art

 So this was a steal when I found these. I was in Shoppers Drug Mart a few weeks ago and I saw these duotang or file folders, whatever you want to call them, on sale for 49 cents. Guess it was a school sale. I couldn't believe they had sugar skull ones so I grabbed all the different kinds that were there. I didn't know what the hell I was gonna use them for, then I remembered my art studio could use some wall art. Therefore, I got some $1.00 frames from Dollarama, cut the folders to size and stuck em in the frames. For only $4.50, I had some awesome Sugar Skull wall art. Yeah!!

DIY Ribbon Skull Flower Pot

 I was never meaning to design this but after Halloween, I came across some skull ribbons at Michaels for $1.00. As you know, anything that is skull, I HAVE to buy lol. When I took it home, I realized I had a clay pot lying around for my son's room that I was meaning to re-paint. Instead of re-painting it however, I used the skull ribbon and glue it around the pot. I then inserted the fake plant I bought from Ikea for $4.00 and there you have it! Only cost about $1.00 for the clay pot from Dollarama, $2.00 for both ribbons from Michaels, and $4.00 for the Plant costing $7.00 in all. You couldn't buy a cheaper, nicer pot if you wanted.

Haunted House Kit

This was a Haunted House kit we purchased from Michaels. We got it after Halloween and it was 80% off! So instead of paying $24.99 for it, I only paid $5.00! We built it in less than 20 minutes and in the end it turned out great. You should always check the sales section of the Michaels store after a holiday, they have some great finds!
