Hey, so if you didn't know, I'll be going to Dominican Republic this January and I am going to be making a travel scrapbook to document my trip. I'd thought I'd blog it cause there's a lot of ideas out there about what to include in a travel or vacation scrapbook and how you could design it. So, I've decided to put all those ideas plus mine, together into a neat little list. I've decided to do mine like a time-line book with a table of contents and extra pages for special events and memories. Below is a picture of the scrapbook stuff I've purchased for this project. All from Dollarama for $1.00 instead of buying them from Michaels for $3.00 +. If your stuck on ideas, you can always search Pinterest for "DIY SMASH Book Travel" or the like.
What to Include:
COVER:
So for the cover you can leave it blank like the smashbook already is, or you can paste your fav pic from your vacation, or maybe a map of where you went. Another cool idea is to buy a postcard when you're at your destination and glue it to the front. You can add decals like in the picture to the left for more customization.
INSIDE COVER/FIRST PAGE:
A lot of people tend to use the inside cover or first page for the main facts about their trip. For example;
Where it was, when it took place, for how long, who you went with, where you stayed, etc. I've decided to use my first page because my inside cover has pockets so I'm probably putting mementos in there.
PAGES TO INCLUDE:
- I think a table of contents is a must. It's a great way to flip to a specific page to find what memory you want to reminisce on.
- Detailed Days of your trip - try to include an itinerary like set-up with each day of your trip. You can label it by "Day 1, Day 2, etc" or you can label like "Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday" or possibly by date such as "Oct.21, Oct.22, Oct.23".
Plus I just got a SMASHbook from Michaels as well, and if you don't know what they are - OMG they are addicting!! They're pretty expensive, about $20 a book. But when you make any purchase at Michaels you get a 50% off coupon for any purchase on a regular priced item. So, I used that and got my Smash book for $10.00!
I also have bought a cute box to put everything in once I'm done. Once again, I got this at Michaels on sale for only $1.66 regular $7.00! Yay! I don't know if I want to keep this one or get one that has more of a map-international look to it. Depends what I find.
